Observations 🔭

It’s international break. Premier League games will be back Saturday, October 21.

8 Match Weeks down, 30 to go. What stood out?

  • Tottenham. Harry Kane left for Bayern Munich, and many thought the loss of the world class goal scorer would be a big setback for Spurs. Son has proven to be an excellent captain/leader and has scored 6 goals, good for second most in the League. Maddison, who leads the league in assists at 5, has been a GREAT addition from Leicester City, maybe the best of the off-season for any PL team. At the end of the day, having talent matters - but the biggest impact for this club may be coming from Coach Postecoglou. The Australian has won every where he’s been.

  • Hangover.🍔 A combination of burn out, injuries (KDB) and red cards (Rodri) have Man City scuffling early and looking uninspired. It’s a long season and City still are favorites to win it all, but early on they look like it will be battle. The toll of winning three in a row, including a Champions League and FA Cup last year, is showing through. The next 7 matches for City will tell a lot - as the schedule is against the Top of the Table.

  • Arsenal. Statement win for Arteta against his old club, announcing their intention to compete for the title.

  • Liverpool. After a disappointing 5th place last year there were questions across The Reds roster and whether Klopp still had that touch. Liverpool seems back and ready to contend.

  • Sacked!!!?. Not yet. Well past the traditional timing for the first Gaffer to go.

  • 3 teams exceeding expectations: Tottenham, BHA, West Ham.

  • 3 teams falling short of expectations: Chelsea, Man United, Burnley.

  • VAR. It's been a rough ride so far. Spotlight getting brighter.
