Headlines 📌

  • CS Match(es) of the Week. RELEGATION WEEKEND. While there are several great matches this weekend, the headline is 3 Matches/6 Teams play each other. A win for any will feel like a 6-point swing, 3 for the winner and 0 for the loser. SEE RELEGATION WEEKEND Below.

Here’s his latest press conference exchange summarized: Q: "Will you be in the dugout at Old Trafford on Sunday?" A: "I will be here [at Sporting]". Q: "Definitely?" A: "I don't know". 🤔🤔

What 2 Look 4 👀- Match Week 10

NCAAFB RED ZONE 🔴🔴🏈🔴🔴

Some big NCAAFB games at 11am cst Saturday, for example OSU at PSU. Make sure to have your multi-tv set up ready to go!

  • Liverpool -250 v BHA +600 SAT 10a - Liverpool beat the Seagulls mid-week 3-2 in the Carabao Cup and both sides played their “second” team. 8 subs for Liverpool, 9 for BHA. Can BHA find the net against a Liverpool side that has allowed just 5 goals in 9 to date.

  • Bournemouth +425 v Man City -170 SAT 10a - Man City have won all 14 PL matches against Bournemouth, the best record any team has over another in the top level. Bournemouth has lost all 11 PL matches against teams at the top of the table. The Cherries have won their last 2 home matches including over Arsenal.

  • Forest +110 v West Ham +240 SAT 10a - Forest have won 2 consecutive matches in the PL. The last time they won 3 in a row, 1999. Nuno has the Tree’s firing on all cylinders. The Hammers had been struggling until they shocked United last week.

  • Ipswich Town +120 v Leicester City +210 SAT 10a - SEE RELEGATION WEEKEND.

  • Southampton +160 v Everton +160 SAT 10a - SEE RELEGATION WEEKEND.

Relegation Weekend  🪓🪓🪓

  • Southampton +160 v Everton +160 SAT 10a - Even Odds. If Sheffield United does not get any points they will tie the PL record of fewest points in the first 10 matches, 1 point, which they hold by getting just 1 point in 10 in 2020/21 and 2023/24. Everton are unbeaten in their last 5.

  • Ipswich Town +120 v Leicester City +210 SAT 10a - The Tractor Boys have been in, and leading, several matches, but have yet to win. Expect goals. The Foxes have scored in every match this season. Feels like a very important match for Ipswich in terms of psyche.

  • Wolves +170 v Palace +150 SAT 1230a - There is some signs of progress with The Eagles, beating Spurs last weekend and Villa mid-week in the Carabao Cup. There’s been a lot of talk about Wolves playing better than their current standing. A win here may determine if those takes were right.

Battle for Europe (Top 6) 🌍🌍🌍

  • Newcastle +270 v Arsenal -105 SAT 730a - Two matches in a row without a win for Gunners and now a trip to St James’ Park in the North.

  • Man United +155 v Chelsea +145 SUN 1030a - Tough task for Chelsea to travel to Old Trafford after the sacking of ten Hag. Will United get the bounce teams get after sacking a manager? Looked like this did in the Carabao Cup mid-week scoring 5. Chelsea didn’t score mid-week and were knocked out of the Cup by Newcastle. This match-up is the MOST DRAWN match in the PL with 26 draws in 64.

  • Tottenham -120 v Aston Villa+280 SUN 8a - Both of these sides lost to Palace last week. Spurs had an uplifting mid-week Carabao Cup win home to City while Vills lost to Palace. Villa have been really good on the road this season with 3W and 1D. Spurs are either REALLY on or REALLY off. In their last 16 matches dating back to last season Spurs have 6W 9L and just 1D.

West London Derby 🏇

  • Fulham +100 v Brentford +250 MONDAY 2p - West London Derby on MNF. Both sides are sitting on ZERO goal differential. Good news for the Bee’s is they have scored 18 goals this season, bad news is they have allowed 18 goals. Their only shut out has been at Liverpool. FFC have scored 12 and allowed 12. FFC have not lost a London Derby in 5 matches.

Current Situation 📈📉

Hot Topic 🔥🔥🔥

Daylight Saving Time

Heads up. If you’re used to the 630cst, 9cst, 1130cst kick times for the EPL on a Saturday - a reminder - that’s 1230 British Standard Time, 3bst and 530bst.

The US observes Daylight Saving Time this weekend, so if you are in the US - unless you are in Hawaii, Arizona or Puerto Rico - you will be moving your clocks back at 2amcst 11/3.

BUT, the UK observed Daylight Saving Time last weekend, 10/27, so instead of the usual 6 hours ahead of the US cst they are now 5 hours ahead and EPL matches will now be 730cst, 10cst, and 1130cst.

This will not be the only time you will see this. Come next spring, the US will observe DST 3/9 - moving the clocks ahead an hour - while the UK will not move their clocks ahead until 3/30. So, we will again see a 5-hour difference for 3 weeks.

History Lesson - According to History.com

CS was always told the reason for DST was to help Farmers extra light for their work. This is not true.

The idea to move the clock started in 1895 when George Vernon Hudson unsuccessfully proposed an annual two-hour time shift to the Royal Society of New Zealand.

In 1905, British construction magnate William Willett picked up where Hudson left off when he argued that the United Kingdom should adjust their clocks by 80 minutes each spring and fall to give people more time to enjoy daytime recreation. Willett was a tireless advocate of what he called “Summer Time,” but his idea never made it through Parliament.

Energy Conservation. In 1916, Germany and Austria began the first DST to conserve energy for the war effort of WWI. The US followed that idea in 1918 for the same reason. When the war ended, DST ended, in 1919. It was reinstated in 1942 for WWII and when that conflict ended some states kept DST and others did not. In 1966 the US Congress passed the Uniform Time Act standardizing DST across the US with clock movement set for April and October. In 2007 the timing was moved to March and November. Arizona and Hawaii do not follow DST as their climates do not benefit from the energy conservation concept, and in fact there are several people who believe there is not benefit to energy conservation from DST.

Today. There are over 70 countries that use DST impacting over 1B people, and as we’ve pointed out, each country moves their clocks on different dates.

  • 143 countries have used DST at some point.

  • 71 countries are currently using DST.

  • 72 countries are not.

  • If only 1B people are impacted, you are right to assume China and India no longer follow DST, ending in 1991 and 1945.

  • The USA, Canada and Mexico observe DST while much of Central America and the Carribean, where you may be heading to for a winter vacation do not - Jamaica, Belize, Cayman, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, etc.

Ballon d’Or

The Ballon d’Or, the “Golden Ball”, is presented to the best footballer (MVP-like) by French magazine France Football. The award started in 1956 and was presented to the best European Footballer as voted on by football journalists. In 2007 it became a worldwide award.

This week the Ballon d’Or gala was held at XX to present awards for the 2023/24 (August - July) season.

The 2024 winner - Rodrigo Hernandez Cascante. Rodri is a midfielder who plays for Man City and Spain.

Rodri - Ballon d’Or winner 2024

Rodri - Man City

Rodri is currently injured and not expected to return to play this season.

30 Players were nominated. Coming in second was Vinicius Jr of Real Madrid and Brazil and all three were not happy. Real Madrid, upon hearing Vinicius was not the winner, canceled their plans to attend the gala and they are taking heat for not going. Brazil’s reaction, “Injustice!”.

There are more than just the Men’s top player awarded at the Gala.

All Time Winners - Messi 8, Ronaldo 5 times, next most 3 times. Messi and Ronaldo have won 13 of the last 15.

Best Bets 💰

No picture this week until CS has a big up week.

Match Week 10 - Winners Only Please

Arsenal to win and U3.5 goals +166 at Newcastle. $20

Gunner’s defense will be solid, and Magpies are not dominating teams. Arsenal will have enough to get all 3 points.

Leicester City Ipswich Town both to score -175. $72

Scoring has not been a problem for LCFC, but stopping the other side has been. Tractor Boys had 3 goals last time out at Brentford. Expect Ipswich to find the net at home and the Foxes to find the net at least once.

Forest to win +110 v West Ham. $20

The Tree’s have been excellent so far really getting it done on defense and West Ham have not.

Bournemouth to Win v City +420. $20

City is injured and not scoring and +420 is a big number so can the Cherries get their first win against City in the EPL?

Liverpool to Win 1-0, 2-0 or 3-0 v BHA +209. $20

Feel a CS coming on for the Red’s and expect them to win at Anfield.

Chelsea to Win +153 at Man United. $20

Just like in MLB it’s tough to beat a team back-to-back so Chelsea’s mid-week loss was not unexpected and United got their sacked gaffer lift mid-week, but Chelsea are better than LCFC and are better than United so give CS the “+” odds.

Wolves Palace O2.5 Goals -117. $23

Wolves will score at Molineaux, and they will allow goals, even to Palace.

Longshots of the week - couple big swings couple little swings

Relegation Draws - Everton/Southampton, Ipswich/LCFC, Wolves/Palace +3852. $10
