USA WIN GROUP D! Here’s what the path now looks like:

Round of 32 - July 1 in Santa Clara 7p
Round of 16 - July 6 in Seattle 7p
QF - July 10 in LA 2p
SF - July 14 in Dallas 2p
FINAL - July 19 in NYNJ 2p
(all CST and all on FOX)
Probable Opponents in Round of 32 if “Chalk” plays out, which it probably won’t
As it stands right now the US would play Bosnia-Herzegovina, estimated at over 50% chance.
If Qatar were to beat B-H, the USA could play them, a 20% chance.
These teams are possible, but 5% chance or less
Ecuador, Sweden, Senegal, Austria, Algeria.
If the Favorites Win - Who would the US Play in 16, 8 and 4?
Round of 16 - 1G - Belgium
QF - 1H -Spain
SF - France, Germany or Netherlands
Teams Eliminated
32 teams will advance out of the Group, 16 will be eliminated.
Group D - Turkey.
FastFood 🍔🍟
Mexico has clinched Group A.
Turkey had OVER 60 SHOTS in their 2 games, 75% possession, played against 10-man Paraguay for a full half yet they have been eliminated without scoring a goal. In terms of odds, they were the 2nd best team in Group D and many peoples pick to win the Group (suckers).
Brazil handled Haiti, but just 3-0. This is not the typical high-flying Brazil team we are used to.
Morocco got a goal at 2’ of the match and held off Scotland for a hard fought 1-0 win.
Paraguay got ALSO scored at 2’, then took a RED CARD (See Below), and Turkey played against a 10-man side for the full 2H, but couldn’t score. Paraguay win 1-0. (Makes the USA 4-1 win look even better).
NEW RULE - “Don’t Say Racist Sh*t Rule”
There have been concerns over the recent years of players using racist language to other players during a match. Just last summer in the Champions League in Europe Vinicius Jr (in the WC for Brazil) reported racist abuse by Benfica’s Gianluca Prestianni.
Players have become accustomed to covering their mouth with their hand when talking on the pitch. You see this in other sports by players and coaches.
To try and eliminate the conduct FIFA created a new rule. NO Covering your mouth - if you do while talking to an opponent you get a RED CARD. Miguel Almiron is the first and hopefully only player to do this during this tournament.
Tie-Breaker. How teams are decided 1 thru 4 in the group.
Total Points Earned - 3 for a Win, 1 for a Draw, 0 for a loss.
If points are tied - Head to Head Result.
If still tied - Goal Differential, Goals scored minus Goals conceded.
If still tied - Goals Scored
If still tied - Fair Play Score - team with fewer cards
if Still tied - FIFA rank
