Headlines 📌
Magnificent Match. Liverpool 1-1 City. Was clearly 2 of the best teams in the world, both playing great soccer and going for the win. City struck first in the 1H to lead 1-0 at HT but Liverpool really owned the 2H. Both sides hit the post, had goals overturned to VAR and had their chances to win. Liverpool took it to City for a majority of the match and may feel like they should’ve gotten 3 points. City will be happy with the point at Anfield, although they hit the post twice and could’ve snuck out with all 3.
YNWA. You’ll Never Walk Alone. (X 30s). Great atmosphere at Anfield.
Not a CleanSheet. John Stones for the lead. (X)
Turnover! Liverpool capitalize (X). AND Citys goalkeeper Ederson is injured on the play.
City ALMOST for the Lead. Double Doink. (X)
City ALMOST for the Lead. Endo off the post. (X)
Penalty, Question Mark. In the final seconds, this was not called a penalty. Thoughts? VAR said no. Sure seems like it would be called 99/100 times. Here is BBCSport thoughts (X).
Virgil van Dyke. The Liverpool Captain and defender has 94 appearances at Anfield and has lost just 1 match (Leeds in 2022). Here are his thoughts on the draw. (X 1min)
Ironically. The draw allowed Arsenal to jump over both to the top of the table.
“Magnificent” - Lyrics Bono, Music U2 No Line On The Horizon (2009, 12th Album). Magnificent was originally titled “French Disco” then changed during recording. In 1985 U2 performed Bad (youtube) at the charity concert Live Aid (wiki), an epic 12 minutes that became a “breakthrough moment” for them. | Track 2 - No Line On the Horizon |
Gunners to the Top. Arsenal 2-1 Brentford. A gutty win for the Arsenal. Rice gave the Gunners the lead early but an extra time 1H goal by Wissa brought the Bees to even and it took a Havertz goal at 86’ to secure all three points at the Emirates.
A Great Signing. Declan Rice, who signed this offseason from West Ham and has been worth every penny, puts the Gunners in front. (X 20s)
Turnover! Bee’s back in it at 45+3’ thanks to Ramsdale. (X)
So Close. Ivan Toney thought he put the Bee’s in front. AND a great make up for the poor goal keeping from Ramsdale. (X 20s)
Havertz for the Win. Sound On Here. (X 30s)
Gaffer’s Take. Mikel Arteta (X 30s) was happy with the win.
Best Result of Match Week 28. Villa 0-4 Tottenham. While Liverpool City was the “big” match of the week, the best result of the week goes to Spurs heading on the road to Villa and completely owning the match. Tied at zero at HT, Spurs score 4 in the final 45’. Spurs, with a game in hand, are just 2 points behind Villa for the final Champions League spot. For Villa, that’s 3 losses in their last 4 home matches at Villa Park where they earlier had dominated.
Two minutes of highlights. Here (X).
3 Team Race to the Top. Arsenal 64 points, Liverpool 64 points, Man City 63 points.
Arsenal travel to City in 2 weeks, that will be the last matchup between the top 3.
Arsenal have had the upper hand against City & Liverpool
Arsenal: 1W 1D v Liverpool and 1W v City (7 points, 3 games)
Liverpool: 1L 1D v Arsenal and 2D v City (3 points, 4 games)
City: 2D v Liverpool and 1L v Arsenal (3 points, 3 games)
Mid-Week Make Up. Bournemouth v Luton Town Wednesday 230pm on Peacock. A win for the Hatters would move them out of relegation. The Cherries sit 13th in the table, are not in Europe contention and probably need just 5-6 points in their last 11 to avoid relegation. Bournemouth have 4 draws 1 win and 2 losses in their last 7. Luton Town have 3 draws 1 win and 4 losses in their last 8.
Continuing to Battle. All three teams currently in relegation positions got draws this weekend, helped by spectacular goals. It’s gonna take a run of wins for The Clarets and Blades to stay up this year. The Hatters need to keep collecting points.
Luton Town - At the final whistle (X).
Burnley - A Fofana ROCKET (X).
Sheffield United - Hammer SMASHES it home (X).
30 Points In Play. 10 games left.
Top 4. 2 teams fighting for the Champions League (Villa & Tottenham). United are 8 points behind and still have hopes to play their way in.
Europe Spots. Man United are positioned well. West Ham, BHA, Wolves, Newcastle and Chelsea are fighting for 2-3 spots.
Relegation. Burnley and Sheffield United, we’re not saying it’s a done deal but they need to run off 4-5 wins to get back into it, more wins than they have in the first 28. Four teams are playing to get out of that final relegation spot - Luton Town, Forest, Everton, and Brentford. Palace need to keep collecting points or they could fall back into the conversation.

Remember - it only takes 1 goal to ruin a Clean Sheet.
“One” - Lyrics Bono, Music U2 Achtung Baby (1991, 7th Album). U2 was going through some disfunction, were debating the direction of their sound and considered breaking up. When working through the album the band felt it wasn’t good and starting to try new things. Once they worked through their ideas, they hit their stride and the song One came together in 15 min. | Track 3 - One |

U2
The Irish rock band started in Dublin in 1976 by teenage classmates at Mount Temple Comprehensive School. Within 4 years they signed with a record label and released their first album, Boy (1980) and the well-known track “I Will Follow”. After their second album, October (1981), their third album, War (1983), went to the top of the charts with songs like “Sunday Bloody Sunday” and “New Year’s Day”.
U2 have released 15 Studio Albums, sold an estimated 160+ million physical copies, and won 22 Grammy’s (more than any other band).
During the 1990s the band experimented with alternative rock, electro-rock and pop. Many wondered if that was the end of the band. However, in the 2000s U2 got back to their roots and their U2 360 Tour set records for the highest attended and highest grossing tours of all time. The band was well known for their live stadium concerts.

Billboard.com ranked the top 25 U2 Songs of all time. On the top of their list, “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For”. Of the 25 songs, 4 are off the Joshua Tree and 4 off Achtung Baby.
“I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” - Lyrics Bono, Music U2 Joshua Tree (1987, 5th Album). The song started from a drum rhythm Larry Mullen Jr created. The band then added gospel music components to add to lyrics that are spiritual. Gospel Choir and U2 Video (youtube 4m) | Track 2 - Joshua Tree |

Champions League, Europa League, Europa Conference AND a Serie A Head Butt
Ever travel off island around Europe - amazing how easy it is to get lost on streets with no names.
“Where the Streets Have No Name” - Lyrics Bono, Music U2 Joshua Tree (1987, 5th Album). The goal was to “conjure up the ultimate U2 live-song”. Goal accomplished. Maybe the most famous performance (youtube 7m - if you haven’t seen this gotta check it out) was when the band did a video shoot in downtown LA that basically pissed off the police and brought a huge crowd. | Track 1 - Joshua Tree |

Serie A Head Butt
Serie A, Italy’s top league, had a “Woody Hayes” moment when Lecce Manager Roberto D’Aversa head butted an opposing player. He was fired immediately after the match. Here is the video (X 13s).
It does give us a moment to highlight the relegation battle at the bottom of the Serie A Table. Just THREE POINTS separate 13th place and 19th place! Seven teams fighting to stay out of two spots. |

Best Bets 💰
“Bad” betting week, gave last week’s winnings back.
“Bad” - Lyrics Bono, Music U2 The Unforgettable Fire (1984, 4th Album). A song about Dublin in the 1980s, Bad is about addiction and many think Heroin which was prevalent during the Recession in Dublin at that time. The Edge created a guitar riff during a jam session, and he has stated he never really listed to the words of the song, just focused on the instrumental. In 1985 U2 performed Bad (youtube) at the charity concert Live Aid (wiki), an epic 12 minutes that was a “breakthrough moment” for them. | Track 7 - The Unforgettable Fire |
