Headlines 📌
Best Result of Match Week 27. Man United 1-3 City. United led early on a rocket by Rashford and carried that lead into the half. And then Phil Foden made is presence known, as he has all season and continues to make his claim for PL MVP with his 17th and 18th goals of the season. Haaland added a goal at 91’ after missing a wide-open chance earlier, and Manchester is Blue. While United led at the half City was clearly the better side dominating the possession, shots and style of play. United sat back deep and just ran out of gas.
Rashford. Rocket. (X)
Haaland with the goa…um, no. The miss after a great Foden header. (X)
Foden Equalizes. I will see your rocket, and raise you one. (X 20s)
Foden Touch. City take the lead. (X)
Turnover. Haaland doesn’t miss this time. (X)
Liverpool Stay Top of Table. Been a great week for Liverpool winning the EFL Cup Sunday, scoring 4 second half goals to beat Luton Town Wednesday, and then getting an 88:32 winner at Forest, their latest winner they have ever scored in the PL. Forest 0-1 Liverpool.
According to Opta, Liverpool have produced more 90’+ game winners than any other PL team in PL history with 44. Next most, Arsenal and Tottenham with 32.
For the Win. Nunez scores at 99’.
From the stands, Sound On. “fn hell, clear the bastard ball.” ~a Forest fan.
But not without controversy. Fans of Forest, City and Arsenal all voiced their frustration for two decisions, a drop ball at 97’ and going past the 8’ extra time added.
At 97’ a drop ball was incorrectly awarded to Liverpool after stopped play for a head injury. It should’ve gone to Forest.
Gary Neville with his opinion (X 1m) on a mistake by the referee to incorrectly award a drop ball to Liverpool 2 min before they scored.
The PL Live team discussing the referee decision. (X)
Paul Tierney, the referee of the match, will get a week off for Match Week 28.
0 to 100. Spurs 3-1 Palace. Palace had Spurs on lockdown who just could not connect on anything. The Eagles took a lead on Eze’s strike at 59’ and it looked like Spurs were going to need a late one to get a point. Instead, they do what Spurs seem to do, “took the lid off” and scored at 77’, 80’ and 88’ for all 3 points.
Here are 90s of the highlights. (X)
A PL Record. Sheffield United 0-6 Arsenal. And it wasn’t that close. The Gunners scored 5 in the 1H, the 14th team to score 5 in a half, now 14 teams tied for the PL record.
A PL Record in the Horizon. Sheffield United have given up 72 goals this season in 27 matches, 2.7 goals/match. At this pace they will give up 101 goals breaking the record set by Swindon Town in 1993/94, 100 Goals Against. In 2017/18 Man City set the record for goals scored at 106.
All Top 5 Teams Win. And 7 of 10.
