What a win for LFC 4-3 over Fulham

Headlines 📌

  • Best Result of Match Week 14. Villa v Man City 1-0.

    • 13. Villa took 13 shots in the 1H of the match, that is more shots than a Pep led City have ever allowed in a half.

    • Dominated. City were pinned back into their own half of the pitch and outshot 22-2. Can’t remember the last time City were dominated by that much. City has lost on occasion, but not in this fashion.

      Shot Chart Villa - City

    • The Goal. Leon Baily with the deflection. (X 30s)

    • Double Save. You expect great goal keeping from the World Cup Winning Argentinian keeper Emi Martinez, and that is what you got here for Villa.

    • 14. Home wins in a row for Villa. Up next, Arsenal.

    • 4. Matches without a Win in the PL for City. Up next, at Luton Town.

  • Arsenal. Extend their lead at the top.

  • McTominay. Great home win 2-1 for Man United against Chelsea as Scott McTominay scores the brace (both goals). Lots of action. Penalty Save by Sanchez on Fernandes. Goal 1. Goal 2. Chelsea goal by Cole Palmer. (All on X)

  • Sacked. The first PL manager was fired - Paul Heckingbottom of Sheffield United. Chris Wilder will take over, returning to the club he had success with in 2016-2021. Here are 3 min from Robbie Earle and Tim Howard. (X)

  • 14 Points. Spurs lead the league in points lost from winning positions. Several teams are second on the list with just 6 points. This is a tough way to lose the lead. (X)

  • Us Against the World. Everton have taken that approach since losing 10 points in the standings. This is a great way to make a statement at home against a good Newcastle side with a 3-0 win. This goal by Doucore and the fans reaction show they are rallying.

What 2 Look 4 👀- Match Week 16

  • 6. 4. Week. 6 Saturday, 4 Sunday.

All teams home mid-week are again home this weekend. This week's games are in order of Largest to Smallest stadium attendance.

  • 74k - Old Trafford

    • Man United v Bournemouth (Sat) - The Cherries are playing some great soccer and while Man U keeps taking heat and not dominating opponents, they sit just 3 points out of the top 4.

  • 62k - Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

    • Tottenham v Newcastle (Sun) - Newcastle allows close to 2 goals per match on the road and spurs score over 2 goals per home match. AND Newcastle score over 2 goals per away match yet have only gotten 5 away points on the season. So, this has at least 3-2 written all over it.

  • 42k - Villa Park

    • Villa v Arsenal (Sat) - The atmosphere at Villa Park against City on Wednesday was amazing, expect the same when the Gunners show up Saturday. of the table clash where the home team will be staking their claim against the best team so far this season in the PL.

  • 40k - Goodison Park

    • Everton v Chelsea (Sun) - Chelsea have performed better on the road than at home. Everton have performed better on the road than at home. Normally you look at the home team with the advantage, but this seems to be the opposite - road team seems to have the advantage.

  • 33k - Bramall Lane

    • Sheffield United v Brentford (Sat) - Home or away the Blades have been the least productive side all season. For this to turn around they need to start getting points against middle of the table teams. The Bees have been pretty good on the road and will expect all 3 points.

  • 32k - Molineaux Stadium

    • Wolves v Forest (Sat) - Another chance for Wolves to take 3 points at home against a team that is really struggling. Forest has now lost 5 of 6 with the only win being at home to Villa.

  • 30k - Amex Stadium

    • BHA v Burnley (Sat) - BHA continues to get good results with a limited team due to injury and suspension. Aside from their dominating performance against Sheffield United, Burnley have been beaten pretty soundly all season.

  • 26k - Selhurst Park

    • Palace v Liverpool (Sat) - Palace might be the toughest team to predict. They can beat anyone, lose to anyone, at home or away. Liverpool has been steady and seems to keep getting better. How will they react to recent injuries will be interesting to watch.

  • 25k - Craven Cottage

    • Fulham v West Ham (Sun) - Not the biggest London rivals but still a London Derby as East travels West. FFC coming off a stomping of Forest at Craven Cottage and they will look to have a second home match turn out the same way.

  • 10k - Kenilworth Road

    • Luton Town v Man City (Sun) - If you have not watched, check out the tv coverage from Kenilworth Road. The views, lighting, and close ups are worth the watch alone. On paper, this should be a City romp, but the Hatters have been playing great at home and City have not won in 4 matches.

Off Island 🏝️

There are some names in sport that people just know - it doesn’t matter whether they saw them play or are fans or not. Ali. Jordan. Gretzky. Ruth. Maradona. Bolt. Woods.

There’s another name on that list - Edson Arantes do Nascimento. You know him, you just might not know him by that name. You may never have seen him play and wear the #10, but you’ve heard the name. He won the World Cup with Brazil in 1958, 1962 and 1970. His club Santos toured the world where he took on the nickname “O Rei” (The King, way before LeBron). He is credited with 1,283 career goals in 1,363 games. In 1999 he was named athlete of the Century by the International Olympic Committee.

Pele

So - Why Talk About Pele Now?

Because - for the first time in their 111-year history, Pele’s club Santos have been relegated from the top league in Brazil. (This is also Neymar’s club, and a club with 30+ trophies.)
