CS Analysis
Canada is fast, athletic and full of attacking flair yet still have an edge and grit to the team. Historically below average, the current version of the team is probably their best and just in time to host a WC.
What may be the “easiest” Group and home cooking should take The Red’s to their first knock-out stage, and who knows, they could surprise beyond that into the Quarter Finals.
Most Interesting Player

Alphonso Davies (Bayern Munich)
National hero scored Canada’s first-ever World Cup goal. A superstar with no controversy who plays with one of the world’s best club teams, Bayern Munich.
Bosnia and Herzegovina are entering just their second World Cup after playing their way in the final playoffs. The team is known to defend and counter quickly. This is a great group for BH as they will know Switzerland well and are on par with host Canada.
Most Interesting Player

Esmir Bajraktarevic (PSV Eindhoven)
The “Milwaukee Messi”. Esmir (21 yo) was born in Appleton, Wisconsin, USA - played for the Milwaukee Wave, Chicago Fire, NE Revolution and USMNT before deciding to play for BH over taking his chances with the USMNT.
Esmir became a fan favorite for his playoff heroics that qualified The Dragons to just their second WC.
Qatar may be the “4th” best team in the “easiest group” but they are a very capable side. They are known for their set-pieces and that could cause problems for their opponents. Would be a big surprise if this side advances but not as much of a surprise as some of the other “4th” best teams in their groups.
Most Interesting Player

Almoez Ali (Al-Duhail, Qatar)
All-time top scorer (60 goals) and 2022 participant. Almoez plays with significant national pride whom Qatari fans love. His ability to finish brings a dynamic threat that media touts as the Asian champion’s main weapon.
Switzerland are the favorite to win the Group and were fortunate to have found Canada’s group.
Best way to describe the Swiss, sound. Just solid in each aspect of the game. This side has a chance to go deep in the tournament as their style of play can frustrate “better sides” which may play well in the knockout rounds.
Most Interesting Player

Manuel Akanji
Fans love this big-time leader, which says a lot for a defender. Reliability, composure and rock-solid defender who’s a goal keepers’ friend.
In Summary
Canada vs. Switzerland—two high-pressing sides where Canadian manager Jessee Marsch’s intensity meets Swiss precision and the best manager in the group, Muart Yakin. Expect the winner of this match, the third of three for each side, to determine who finishes top of the table. While the Swiss are favored and may have the best player in the group with Granit Xhaka, don’t underestimate the home pitch advantage as Canada play all three matches in country. Bosnia and Herzegovina will bring a Balkan grit and technical flair, and as an American it should be fun to see how the “Milwaukee Messi” performs. Qatar will try to play major spoiler and prove their first ever WC in 2022 as the host was the start of something big.

Their biggest achievement remains that 2014 campaign, where they recorded their first-ever World Cup win (3-1 over Iran) and showed flashes of the talent that has long defined Balkan soccer.
The Fans
Despite the country’s size The Zmajevi travels well and have really gotten into the recent success of the club. While there is history of the region, BH is a relatively young club, and the fans are very tied to national pride since independence from communist Yugoslavia came relatively recently.

This WC is the first time the team qualified through the standard process. Their biggest achievements are two AFC Asian Cup titles (2019 and 2023), marking them as one of Asia’s rising forces.
The Fans
Hosting the WC in 2022 increased interest in the national team significantly, and recent Asia Cup successes have only added to fans excitement and expectations.
