Pure ENERGY.

The crowd noise was buzzing an hour before kick and only ratcheted up throughout.

The pre-game anthems have been GREAT the entire tournament. England’s “God Save the King” was first, and you couldn’t even really hear it. Argentina fans sang their anthem drowning it out. Then during “Himno Nacional Argentino” England fans returned the favor.

Best 1H of the tournament. Guys going all out, pressing, extra pace. 0-0 HT.

England looked like they were getting the better of it and were rewarded. Kane with a great pass, to Rogers to Anthony Gordan. Watch

The entire match changed after that. England went defensive too early, at 55’, and Argentina controlled the ball, hit the post a couple times and finally got the breakthrough. Messi did not score, but he assisted two goals, at 85’ a goalzo by Enzo Fernandez (Chelsea) and again by Lautaro Martinez at 90+2’.

Yet again, Argentina with another comeback.

England Manager Thomas Tuchel has been great throughout the tournament. But if you know him, you know he likes to Bunker, and he went to the defensive low block way too early in the match. You could just see the goals coming for Argentina. After England took the lead, Arentina had 88% possession. That is a HUGE number.

Bunkering - Prevent Defense, Taking the Air Out of the Ball, Not Playing to Win.
