This match felt like France pulled a USMNT against Belgium (minus the GK blunder).
Outplayed
Out hustled
Took a punch and couldn’t respond
Stars had no answers
Played a team that brought their absolute best.
Seemed flustered and out of ideas.
Spain did what Spain does, controlled possession when it mattered and played keep away from France. Found enough offensive action to earn a penalty at 22’ and then to extend the lead to two at 58’ on a Pedro Porro finish. This was just a master class from Spain, smothering, in total control.
France had their own GK situation, actually it weas Spain’s, but France couldn’t capitalize. Again, felt very much like the USMNT GK situation but in reverse. Watch It Here.

Great win for Spain who hope to win their second WC, and back up their European Championship in 2024.
As for France, disappointing loss with all that talent. Been a great run for France winning in 2018, runners up in 2022 and now 3rd or 4th in 2026.

As for this match, both sides have found ways to win even when not at their best. Both sides most certainly have tired legs having to go extra time in heat. Both sides can play very flexibly. Messi can roam and anywhere he plays he can create for himself and others. England can move Kane and/or Bellingham up to attach or back to defend. England will play directly and will need to watch out to not get over extended. Argentina will look to control more possession and win one on one battles. Both sides can score if this game opens up yet it’s possible the game starts more slowly as both sides are on tired legs.
CS Prediction - I like England’s depth and ability to at least bottle up Messi a little bit. Argentina runs out of comebacks, England 2-1.
