• The Match - Real Madrid 2-0 Borussia Dortmund

  • Dortmund played a GREAT first half and had the majority of chances. Should’ve score more than one (X). RM looked more tired/slow and Dortmund were playing the way the play and as expected - and executing at a very high level. But, it was 0-0 at HT. RM changed their approach to focus more on mid-field after HT and played much better in the 2H and had the confidence to find the next at 73’.

  • 1-0. Some set piece magic (X) off a corner at 73’ from Carvajal.

  • 2-0. Vinicius Junior secures the title (X) at 82’.

  • Vini Jr. Watch this run and move (X) by Vini Jr during the match. Why he is the favorite to win the Ballon d’Or, the best player in Europe.

• Carlo Ancelotti (wiki) - RM Manager - Considered one of the best managers in the sport all time and now adds another major trophy to his collection - 5 Europe Championships, 3 for Real Madrid.

Europa Conference League Finals

• ECL FINAL - Olympiacos 1-0 Borussia Dortmund in Athens.

  • This result is the first time a Greek team has won a major European Title.

  • 1-0. Just put it on net, good things happen.

  • What a celebration. Great video (X) of the celebration in Athens.

  • Olympiacos is owned by Evangelos Marinakis (wiki), who also owns Nottingham Forest. Not a bad couple weeks - staying up in the PL and then winning a European Cup.

Summer Headlines ☀️📌

• Fox Hunt.

  • Manager Enzo Maresca has officially left Leicester City FC for Chelsea on a 5-year contract.

  • LCFC now need a new manager to keep them up. Will they go for a seasoned manager who could focus on keeping them up or will they go the direction they did when they hired an up and comer in Maresca and make the ‘long term” play. One thing for certain, this is not how you want to go into a promotion season, but they have the summer to figure it out and keeping your manager didn’t work out for last year’s recently promoted clubs.

  • Arne Slott recently became Liverpool’s 22nd manager in their 132-year history. Chelsea have had 22 managers since 2000.

  • Chelsea will now be paying 3 managers next season, two recently sacked and Maresca.

• MBAPE to Real Madrid. “The rich get richer” as RM, fresh off a La Liga and CL title picked up one of the top strikers in the world signing Kylian Mbappe from PSG. You can catch Mbappe playing for France this summer at Euro2024.

• Going on Offense. Man City have filed charges against the PL over financial rules. They claim they are victims and that rules were amended to stifle their success on the pitch. Called it a “tyranny of the majority”. Kind of feels like it’s City going on the offensive as they are being charged for violating FFP rules. Here is the BBC’s overview.

  • June 8 - USMNT plays Colombia in a friendly.

  • June 12 - USMNT plays Brazil in a friendly.

  • June 14 - July 14 - Euro 2024. Should be a GREAT tournament.

  • June 20 thru July 14 - Copa America, which the USMNT is participating in. Full schedule here.

Late July - Early August - Some clubs take “international tours” to promote their club and prepare for the upcoming season. Here are a few, including some coming to the US.
