Not the only thing happening in what will be a VERY BUSY run up to the start of the season.
In just over a month (Friday, August 11, 2pm cst) Kaelia & JJ Watt’s Burnley host defending champion Manchester City at Turf Moor to kick off the 2023/24 PL season. While most will recognize Man City, Burnley may be new to you. Click here for a 1 page overview of Burnley FC.
Here are some of what’s happening between now and then.
Transfers/Loans/Player Movement - WHO will be playing WHERE is very much up in the air as teams are working hard on buying/selling players, and transfer rumors are in full swing. There are some MAJOR players who are in the mix, and the CLEAN SHEET will be providing updates and commentary as we get closer to the start of the season.
Pre-season matches begin in the coming weeks, all over the world
Chelsea, Newcastle, Fulham, Brentford, BHA, and Aston Villa are all playing in the “Summer Series” in the US the last week of July.
Arsenal and Man United will also be playing in the US against and MLS All-Star team, Barcelona and Monaco. While other clubs will be playing internationally elsewhere - Liverpool will be in Singapore playing Bayern Munich, Man City will be in Japan playing Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich, Wolves are in South Korea, Tottenham and West Ham are in Australia.
Kit Releases. Marketing departments are in full swing getting ready to release the 23/24 Kits (teams jersey’s). This is a big deal as new sponsors are announced and teams will make a bunch of money on the new look uniforms. Each team will have 3 primary jersey’s - Home, Away and Special.
National Teams are playing in NA
While many of the top players will not be participating for their national teams, teams in North America will be playing in the Gold Cup. The quarterfinals have started with the US playing July 9 against Canada. The final is set for July 16 in SoFi Stadium.
Also, the Womens World Cup will kick in New Zealand July 20. More commentary to come on that competition.
