Headlines 📌
CS Match of the Week. City 2-2 Arsenal. WOW! What a match. You can read all about it, but here is a quick summary. Heavy rain, momentum swings, controversy, red card, key injury. Arsenal deserved the 3 points, and they announced they will be in this race all season.
The Match.
Haaland at 9’ gives City the lead
ACL for Rodri. A key player for City went down on just a regular play at 20’ and has been ruled out for the season.
Calafiori at 22’ bring Arsenal back in it with some controversy. Kyle Walker got called over to talk to the ref and didn’t get back in position in time when play resumed. It’s a great goal, but you can see at the start the questionable quick start.
Magalhaes at 45+1’ puts the Gunners in the lead
Ref Dean Oliver wants everyone to know he’s in charge giving Leo Trossard a second yellow/red card for this.
City had 28 shots in the SECOND HALF, and 88% of the ball.
After defending with 10 men for the 2H John Stones equalizes for City at 90+8’.
Here’s Haaland throwing the ball off Gabriel’s head after the goal. Shite move.
Here are all 4 goals, with each managers reaction.
The Dark Arts. Severus Snape would be proud.
Several clubs have complained to the PL governing body that Arsenal are using “Dark Arts”.
After the City match City player’s Kyle Walker and John Stones complained about Arsenal time wasting and “using the Dark Arts”.
Here’s City’s Bernado Silva with the shot fired “Asked about the difference between City's rivalry with Arsenal to the one they shared with Liverpool during the Jurgen Klopp era, Silva continued: "I don't know. Maybe that Liverpool have already won a Premier League, Arsenal haven't. That Liverpool have won a Champions League, Arsenal haven't. Liverpool always faced us face-to-face to try to win the games, so by this perspective the games against Arsenal haven't been like the ones we had and have against Liverpool."
Harry Potter. If Snape is an Arsenal fan that would make Michael Oliver Harry Potter, always trying to piss off Snape’s Slytherin.
Michael Oliver
This Ones for the Cardinal’s Fans
Michael Oliver put himself right in the middle of the match when he gave Leandro Trossard a second yellow with Arsenal up 2-0 at City, sending off an Arsenal player for the SEVENTH time in his refereeing career - making the Gunners his most red carded team. The call definitely influenced the outcome of the match and potentially took 2 points away from Arsenal in what seems like it will be a tight title race. Got CS thinking, what quickly comes to mind when it comes to obviously poor refereeing/umpiring in big games. It’s never good when an entire fan base has an immediate reaction to hearing a ref’s/umps name…..which one’s did CS miss, send a reply. (all links YT)
Don Denkinger - 1985 World Series - Cardinals v Royals Game 6.
Saints V Rams - 2019 NFC Title game - no Pass Interference call
Heat v Mavericks - 2006 NBA Finals game 6 - phantom call
Man United v Tottenham - 2005 Match - when a goal is no goal
Here are 15 minutes of poor soccer refereeing calls.
Lotta “Wood” in Brighton. BHA 2-2 Forest. Red cards (3), great goals and high intensity. The takeaway, Forest came to play this season and Nuno has them meshing.
Wood at 13’ with the PK to put the trees in front.
Hinshelwood with the header at 42’ brings BHA even.
Welbeck gives BHA the lead at 45’.
Sosa brings the trees back to even.
Don’t Sleep on Chelsea.
It’s another road Win for the Blues, this time 3-0 at West Ham courtesy of a Nicolas Jackson brace (2 goals) in the 1H and a Cole Palmer COLD FINISH.
That’s 3 wins in a row, 9 goals and 3 clean sheets for Chelsea.
Quick Saves.
Wolves lose defender Mosquera for the rest of the season in 1-3 defeat to Villa.
Friedkin Group officially reached agreement (BBC Sport) to buy Everton.
Love the noise - Watkins evens it for Villa on their way to victory over Wolves.
Chicago. Anyone attend PL Mornings fan fest? Looks like it rained a lot Sunday.

Derby della Madonnina
Duomo | San Siro |
MILAN IS RED
An 89th minute away derby winner for Milan. The vast away end, maybe 10,000 strong, has been rocking all night. What an occasion. I sat near them and took this.

AC Milan (Milan) “traveled” to Inter Milan (Inter) last weekend in Serie A. The Derby is named after the statue of the Virgin Mary on top of the Duomo which is often referred to as Madonnina, "Little Madonna”.
This match has been contested 240 times.
Inter has 91, Milan won 80, with 69 draws.
Both teams play in the San Siro (think sofi, meadowlands). Inter usually holds the North end and AC the South.
Historically, Inter fans were the bourgeoise “upper class” and Milan the casciavit “working class”.
This weekend Christian Pulisic showed why he’s one of the players in the world and probably the best in CONCACAF now.
Pulisic Keeps Getting Better
