Liverpool players and fans singing their emotion “theme” song “You’ll Never Walk Alone” after securing the title. Watch

You’ll Never Walk Alone was a show tune from Rogers and Hammerstein’s musical Carousel in 1945. The song was recorded by Gerry & The Peacemakers in 1963 (the most successful cover of the song) hitting #1 on the UK charts for 4 weeks. The lead singer of the band, Gerry Madsen was born and Liverpool and gave Liverpool manager Bill Shankly a recording of the song on a preseason trip. Before the FA Cup Final Shankly was a guest on the BBC and talked about the song as being one of his favorites. Liverpool won the FA Cup and the song became the clubs motto. In 1992 the club added “You’ll Never Walk Alone” to their crest in honor of their 100th year anniversary.

The song is played before each match and undoubtedly brings out strong emotion and many tears from the fans.

Title 20

  • CS Match of the Week. Liverpool 5-1 Tottenham. Spurs scored first at 12’, led for 4’, and were down 3-1 at HT. ALL Liverpool.

    • England Top League Title Stats…..

      • Liverpool and Man United have the most titles with 20.

      • Since 1992 - United have won 13 titles, Liverpool 2.

      • Before 1992 - Liverpool won 18 titles, United 7.

      • Arsenal have 13 titles, Man City 10.

      • Since 2016-2017, just 2 teams have won the title - City (6) & Liverpool (2).

      • The last team to win the title not named Liverpool or City - Chelsea. It’s been a while London.

      • Preston North End who won the first title in 1889 - Aston Villa finished 2nd and Wolverhampton finished 3rd.

      • 24 Clubs have won the Title since 1889.

      • 5 Clubs have won the title 1 time.

      • 5 Clubs have won the title 2 times.

      • 14 Clubs have won the title 3+ times.

      • NFL Comparisons -

        • The first NFL championship was won by the Akron Pros in 1920.

        • The Green Bay Packers have the most titles with 13.

        • 28 Teams have won the NFL Championship.

        • 5 of those 28 teams no longer exist.

      • Liverpool fans only - Check out this 5 min video. Watch

  • Mid-Week matches. MW34 make up with Forest hosting Brentford on Thursday in a huge match with Europe implications.

  • FA Cup Semi’s. The all-England tournament knows its finalists. The Semi-Finals were held in Wembley Stadium last weekend. Two clean sheets. FA Cup finals are on May 17.

    • Palace 3-0 Aston Villa. - This will be Palace’s third ever FA Cup final, and first since 2016, they have never won the title.

    • Man City 2-0 Forest. - This is City’s third FA Cup final in a row. Last season they were beat by rival Man United for the title.

  • There Were OTHER PL Matches.

    • Big Win for Chelsea in the CL race beating Everton 1-0.

    • Wolves make it 6 in a row with a 3-0 over the Foxes.

    • The Favorites took care of business - except for Bournemouth who drew with Man United.

    • Extra Time Winners.

      • Fulham beat Southampton coming back from a goal down and scoring at 90+2’.

      • At 83’ BHA v Wesst Ham was tied 1-1. West Ham then took the lead but BHA scored twice to win 3-2.

      • At 90+6’ United salvaged a point at Bournemouth. Will count it a win as United controlled most of the match and at least salvaged a point.

  • Worst Ever. As discussed previously, Southampton could end up being the “worst ever” PL club. If they stay on 11 points that would tie the record for fewest points in a season. Add to that being the earliest team ever relegated from the PL and having the two worst losses on the PL, each 0-9, that would make them the leaders in the club house for “worst ever PL club”. Of course, worst ever PL club is still better than the majority of English Soccer Clubs who have never been in the PL.

Current Situation 📈📉

NOTE: Green Up Arrow means a club jumped UP 2 positions in the table or moved into a European spot. Red Down Arrow means a club moved DOWN 2 positions or more in the table for fell out of a European spot.

  • Spurs. The fact Spurs are sitting in 16th with a +6 goal differential is crazy.

  • Europe Race. As mentioned previously, there are 5 CL spots up for grabs this season. Liverpool and Arsenal have 2 of the 5. 5 teams are fighting for the other 3 spots. Europa League and UEFA Conference League are still up in the air. If a PL team wins any of the leagues they are in, they could take a spot as the winner of the Europa League gets another CL spot.

  • 6 In A Row. That’s 6 wins in a row for Wolves and 19 points in 7 matches. Big test heading to City over the weekend. Need to win out for a top 10 chance.

Back-to-Back-to-Back

First team to do it in English Soccer History

Most of you have heard of Wrexham - the little football club in Wales purchased by Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds 4 years ago.

Some interesting stats…..

  • Purchase Price $2.5M

  • Docu Series entering it’s 4th season - on FX (Check it out - good show)

  • Invested in the stadium and the community.

  • Have 3M+ social media followers.

  • Has become an international destination with fans showing up to Wrexham from all around the world.

  • First time in the Championship (Level 2) since 1982.

In 2008 Wrexham fell to Level 5 in English Soccer - there is a HUGE gap between Level 4 and Level 5. Think of it in terms of Professional versus high end Amateur.

Who else was promoted back to the Championship this season….Birmingham City, this guy’s team.
