Headlines 📌

  • CS Match of the Week. BHA 2-1 Man City.

    • A First for Pep. Man City lost its fourth straight match in all competitions, something they have never done under Pep. April 2018 was the last time Man City had lost three matches in a row. Pep’s reaction post BHA - we need to “clean our heads over the international break”.

    • It was a really good 1H for City and Haaland put them in front at 23’.

    • It looked like it would be all three points for city until Pedro pounces at 77’ to tie it 1-1.

    • And then, chaos as the tide turns on the south coast, when O’Riley makes it 2 at 83’.

  • 22 Years. Tottenham 1-2 Ipswich Town.

  • The Tractor Boys got their first win in the PL in 22 years. And, they did despite these uniforms!

  • Szmodics with a great goal at 31’.

  • Then Delap at 43’.

  • Bad Spurs. Yes, the Tractor Boys showed up and played well, but as CS talked about last week, this match came down to Spurs falling short of what they can do.

  • A Good Point. Chelsea 1-1 Arsenal. A great game. If someone says how can a good game end in a Draw - have them watch this one and remind them how points work in the table.

  • Referee Suspension. David Coote was recorded talking about his dislike of Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp. Now he’s been suspended pending further investigation. Not a good look. Now Liverpool fans are posting all the bad calls he made against Liverpool, and there are A LOT of them.

Shoutout to CS subscribers taking in the matches from B.D. Riley in Austin, TX.

Thanks Ryan & Nathan - and to CS subscribers - please send yours!

Current Situation 📈📉

  • Just 4 points separate 3rd place from 13th, expect a lot of movement after International Break.

  • With Wolves and Ipswich Town winning, every PL team has now won.

  • 4 Teams with just 1 win, making those points off Draws look big.

  • While Liverpool have just a 5-point lead over the champs, the 9-point gap over 3rd is quite a gap right now.

  • If goal differential is an indicator, and often it is, expect Spurs to move up the table.

Armistice Day

Armistice - noun - an agreement made by opposing sides in a war to stop fighting for a certain time, a truce.

During WWI the Allies, the Entente, were a coalition of countries led by France, UK, Russia, United States, Italy and Japan against the Central Powers of Germany, Austria-Hungary, Ottoman Empire and Bulgaria. An Armistice was agreed to between the Allies and the Central Powers and fighting was stopped “at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month”.

The first Armistice Day was celebrated a year later at Buckingham Palace in London November 11, 1919.

Today, many countries around the world observe what was originally called Armistice Day.

Britian renamed Armistice Day to Remembrance Day, also known as Poppy Day, during WWII. All 56 members of The Commonwealth (member states of the British Empire) observe Remembrance Day.

The USA renamed Armistice Day to Veterans Day in 1954 at the urging of Verteran’s Organizations.

Remembrance Poppy

During WWI, inspired by the war poem “In Flanders Fields” (wiki - click for the short poem) citizens bought and wore Poppy’s in honor of those serving. The money was used for veterans, widows, orphans, and charities supporting the war.

Today, you will see people wearing these Poppy’s across Britian - you may have seen them this weekend during the matches on players, coaches, commentators, supporters and around the grounds.

In addition, prior to the match start there will be a bugler playing “Last Post” followed by a moment of silence.
